Welcome to the World!

Hey girls!

I have the best news! My cute aunt had a baby last Friday! I haven't had time to post about the newest cousin, but she is a beautiful baby girl! Her name is Lucy Elizabeth! My aunt told me she named her after both her Grandmothers and I, but please, y'all I wasn't born yesterday, I know shes just trying to sweet talk me into babysitting ;) haha! My Nana's name is Lucy and then my aunts mothers name is Elizabeth which just happens to be my middle name! None the less, I was absolutely flattered, and told her if she ever needed a sitter I would be more then happy too! I love babies, they are so cute! Especially this baby girl! ;) My uncle got her the cutest State hat, and she wore it all during the game the other day! So adorable! She has big blue eyes, and white blond hair...she looks just like my sister! Its always exciting to have a new baby!

On the way home from dinner with everyone tonight, IT STARTED SNOWING! It was coming down so hard, and we were so so excited! I am praying that it will snow the 3 inches that WRAL predicted tonight! It stopped, but I really think it will pick back up! Lord knows it would be fabulous to have another day off!

After dinner, my roommate and I ( she is the neatest person I know!) cleaned my room! It was much needed! I have essentially just let it go, and it needed to be put back together! She is so good at cleaning and organizing, she re did my closet in sections so now I can find everything. I had things in there I didn't even realize I still had! WHEW I am glad its done! I feel so much neater knowing that everything is in the right spot! I keep EVERYTHING! I mean I still had Christmas cards in my drawers from last semester, and I have all of my deb and high school scrapbooks. After I wrecked my car and couldn't walk for a few days I got really into scrap booking because it kept me so busy! I absolutely fell in love with it, but now I can never find time to do anything with them. They are fun to look back at! I also found this journal that I kept throughout my freshman and sophomore years! It was really funny to look back at that! I cant believe some of the stuff, and its so funny to have it written down because I would have never remembered half of what was in that journal! I apparently was totally in love with this guy that I met at Crusade Freshman year, and we used to go to church together. After reading, I do remember doing that! Too funny! I should start writing in it again, as much as I don't want to, and dont have the time to, I bet I would absolutely love to look back one day and see what I did!

Here are some cute pictures we took tonight in the "snow" haha!

Have a great Monday!

I was tagged by the lovely Europafox to do this survey!

1. Make a list of things you can see without getting up

2. Favorite football team -
CAROLINA TARHEELS!!!
Also, after watching the Superbowl and seeing Kurt Warner get "Man of the Year" for what he does for charity, and knowing that a few years ago he was bagging groceries and then achieved his big dream! My mother always jokes that to make my brother smile, she feeds him and the army of friends he brings home every day, and to make me smile, she finds me a cute Lilly. Really, a Lilly just brightens my day! Every time I see someone wearing a Lilly I can't help but smile! They are just beautiful! They are timeless too, I will keep mine forever, or as long as they fit! haha

Drop Dead Gorgeous!

Hey girls!

The past few days have been quite eventful! Girls dinners, get together's, dinner dates, ect. Some of us went to a place downtown called Bogarts the other night for dinner. It was so so good! They had a band too, and a really fun bar, it makes me want to be 21! The band played the best music! I don't know if you have ever heard "Magic" by Robin Thicke but they played that, and that is my favorite song! I heard them play the song while we were eating, and every time I hear a song live, it makes me love it that much more. We stayed until that restaurant closed! It was so much fun!

This coming Monday another one of my friends is turning 21 and we are all going to Fosters to celebrate! Her cute mom is coming to have their 1st drink together (well to her mother's knowledge!) I cant wait to see her, this is the same friend that I did the Avon Walk with 2 years ago, and I absolutely love her family! Fosters will be so much fun, everyone goes there on Thursday nights! So much fun!

This weekend, I am finally headed home to get my hair done! I am excited because I have actually waited long enough this time that it grew out a bit and now I can go lighter. It has been a sandy blonde for a while and I am tired of it! I feel like a sick person when I am not a light blonde...its like im missing something! I cant wait to have it done! The worst part about hair appointments though is that they take such a long time! Every time I go, I have to allot 3 hours...isn't that crazy! I have a VERY hard time sitting in a chair for 3 hours, but it's worth it!

I am so excited because my good friend T will be home for the weekend! We are planning on spending Saturday with a bottle of wine and the golf cart riding around and catching up...like I said Salisbury is boring, but riding a golf cart and drinking wine is much more fun then it actually sounds. When we were 7 we would be driving around, and we vowed one day that a group of us would drive a golf cart from here to LA. Of course, that was before we had our cars, and realized how far LA actually was haha! I can't wait to see him! I believe we are going to go and tour the Historic District this weekend! Occasionally, they open up the houses usually in October, but there are so many that have been re-done and that is just one of T and my hobbies. We love to go see the Historic Houses and pick out the one we dream of living in one day! They are all so beautiful, the people that own them keep them up so well!

On a completely different note...
Have any of you ever seen a movie called "Drop Dead Gorgeous!" HAHA! It is by far my new favorite movie!! T's sister L showed me a clip on you tube a few days ago and I am hooked!! I told her we had to go find it because I just had to watch the whole movie. We went to 2 different Targets and snuck in right at 9:50 to buy it! They had one last copy! Its all about pageants! Kirsten Dunst, Kirsty Alley, Amy Adams, and Denise Richards all star in it! They all have extremely strong northern accents, stronger then Sarah Palin's!! I was joking with L because she absolutely HATES social events! However, she did the State Debutante Ball this year, so jokingly I said she and I were kindof like Pageant girls in white dresses...she didn't think that was funny! How could you hate being in a pageant or doing a deb ball? They are so much fun (well I have never done a pageant, but Miss America looks fun!) and those type of functions are the absolute best way to meet people! I met a lot of my Meredith girls through Deb!

I have to share a few of my favorite quotes from Drop Dead Gorgeous!

Amber Atkins- "I don't eat shellfish. Mom always says, "Don't ever eat nothin' that can carry its house around with it. Who knows the last time it's been cleaned." She should know."

Amber Atkins- "My mom never hid the fact that my dad chose his career over us. What was it she always said?"
Loretta- "Once a carnie, always a carnie."
Amber Atkins- "Mom still cries every time she sees a tilt-a-whirl or a fat lady in a tube top."

Gladys Leeman- "The communal wine just proves too tempting for some of them!"
Iris Clark- "That's why we Lutherans use grape Kool-Aid for the blood of Christ."

This week is such a big week! I am pretty caught up on school work, but I just sent off for another internship this summer with the American Journalism Center. I also heard from ABC and I should interview with them for the summer internship in March. Personally, I would love to attain an internship with ABC, what fun!! Both of those are in Washington DC which would be a nice change of scenery!

Another good thing that happened today was getting an interview at Interact! Interact is a place to volunteer, and I am really excited because I love kids and I want to learn more about working and helping them. I am really looking forward to it because everyone seems so sweet. What a blessing!

I hope you all have a great Wednesday!

Update!

Hey girls!

So sorry I haven't posted lately, I have been so busy!

It snowed at least 4 inches here, and I was so excited! It was so beautiful, I think snow and Christmas lights (if done tastefully) can do wonders for a house/yard!

My friends and I went for walks up the street in the snow, normally I build a big snowman and go sledding, but I didn't bring a sled with me to school, so because we were absolutely desperate, we tried to use our McCain signs. They FLEW, but lost the will to slide after a few hills! Walking was so much fun, and we saw some of the cutest kids with their sleds, they were all so excited!

When the girls and I were walking, we saw this beautiful little house for rent just a street up from where we are now. The house is 5 bedrooms. Our living situation for next year is so crazy/confusing right now! I am good to live wherever, as long as I live with all of my friends I could care less! The rent here really is not outrageous but we have had a few issues, and so we are looking for another house. Also, I am so excited because, a good friend of ours might move in with us and so we would need a bigger house anyway.
Who knows, I called the Realtor and she was as sweet as she could be! We are touring it Saturday. Everyone is in a panic about what we're gonna do, but I feel like it will all work out like it is supposed to.
I absolutely hate drama, but it seems like its always there, it is funny hearing everyone argue/compromise on what we are going to do! That's what we all get for going to an all girls school! At the end of the day though, we are just excited to have a house and not be on campus!

Well, I officially broke up with E! I feel like such a bitch, but let me just tell you what happened! I really wanted to break up with him over a week ago, but we had set a good friend of mine up with a good friend of his and we all went on a double date last week. I asked E to make reservations at The Melting Pot. He promised he would, and so the night of the date we were all really excited. Actually, I was just ready for the thing to be over, but so excited for Al and K!

Well, I told the boys to meet me and K at my house by 7:30...

E got here at 6...seriously!

I was nowhere near ready!

I answered the door with my hair lookin a curly mess! From the time E got to my house, to the time we all got home from dinner, he was so rude to everyone he came in contact with! He talked badly about everyone he could think of, including some people I have never met which is so rude! You never do that!
Al, my friends date, finally got to the house around 7:30 and we all had a quick glass of wine before dinner. That was fun, because Al and K really clicked and they are about to have date number 2!!
Anyways,
E said right as we got to The Melting Pot that he hadn't made reservations at either place (Angus barn was another suggestion) because they didn't allow them. Y'all I have reservations made at the Melting Pot so many times, I know you can make them! Well, we get there and it is an hour wait!! It was already 8:30 so we didn't want to wait an hour.
It was absolutely packed, and I was not surprised! That place is so good!
After we decided not to wait, we went to another nice place downtown and it was a 2 hour wait! I was a little upset at this point because there was really no where else to go, all of my favorite places downtown had a wait as well. We ended up going to...
a Chinese restaurant
...needless to say it was not what any of us had planned! I mean, it was okay, Al, and K got to talk a lot, but the atmosphere was not what I wanted! It worked out though, and that's all that matters.
Later that night after Al had left I told him we are not going to work, along with a lot of other stuff hoping to get my point across. I felt so much better! He just stared at me, and said he would call me the next day, he couldn't take it all in. I told him there was no need, I made my point and I was happy.

Anyways, so its a never ending story, but its finally over, hes just out there and I liked him so much better when we were just friends! He got really possessive and needy when we started dating, and that's too bad because he was such a fun friend!

In other news, my landlord decided shes throwing a cookout for my house, and her other rental houses. Haha, I am really excited about it! It will be fun because its another house of 4 guys, and then some girls that I know from MC! It will be fun to get together. I have never had a landlord who is so hands on, or does stuff like this, she is so nice!

I hope y'all have a great Wednesday!

My 5 Favorite Things!

Hey girls!

I never have time to do this, but I am finally going to post my 5 favorite things!

1.) My moms car!
I absolutely LOVE SUV's, they make me feel so big! Haha, my poor Volvo S80 has been having so many issues and it is not even that old! My mother and I took it to the dealership the day before I came back to Raleigh and they were so sweet and accommodating! I started telling the man all of the problems I was having, and he stopped me mid sentence and said they would keep it until next week and fix everything for me and give me a rental! This probably sounds normal, but I was really just going in for a maintenance check, so I thought it was really sweet. The nicest people were getting their cars worked on that day too, there must have been like 5 sets of mothers and daughters! Long story short, they were going to rent me the car that Edward Cullen drove in Twilight, and it was red...dont get me wrong I am in LOVE with Edward Cullen, but not so much in love with that ugly car! Also, I have a problem with speeding tickets already, and a red car just wouldn't help so...I asked if they had something that had more room. They did, and now my mother is driving my rental because who knew that I had to be 21 to drive it. she is now the proud owner of the Volvo Wagon! So, this week I have my moms big SUV, and, oh my Lord, it charges through the crowds on campus, and I always get good parking! I think I want to trade with her! Haha!

2.) The Mamma Mia Soundtrack!
Does anyone else think the whole cd is amazing!? It is so good, Meryl Streep is just talented! I love Peirce Brosnan too, but Lord i'm still getting used to his singing voice. Even if he sounds bad, he is so sharp. I love Amanda Seyfreds voice too! I can't believe she was in mean girls as one of the plastics! She is a really good actress, and did so well in Mamma Mia. I love the soundtrack, I haven't taken it out since I got it! It just makes you feel good when you listen to it!

3.) My sweet friends!
I absolutely love my friends, I am so happy that we have gotten to see so much of each other before classes start, and everything gets crazy! I don't know what I would do without them. A few of us had dinner at this great place called the Noodle something or other, I forget, but if you live in Raleigh and ever go to Cameron Village, eat there! It is great! Also, we just had a welcome home party yesterday for my friend who came home from Kenya and I cant tell you how much we smiled and laughed. We hadn't all been in the same room in over 3 years, it was truly such a wonderful day! Thankfully we all agreed we just cannot go that long without getting together again, so we are planning a housewarming party for my friend K when she moves in Feb! YAY! Those girls are such good girls, they are all 2 years older then me so they have actual jobs now and it freaks me out! One of them is a nurse at Duke and she just started in the pediatric unit! The other one is an 8th grade teacher with hilarious stories about kids hitting on her...so funny! The one who just got home from Kenya is heading to Americorps! I think that would be just amazing! Some of the others live far away and couldn't be there, but we sure did miss them! I am so blessed to have them, and so happy we all got to spend a fun Sunday together!

4.) "The One Hundred" By Nina Garcia
This is one of the books I got for Christmas, and OH MY GOSH, it has 100 pieces of clothing that every woman should have in her closet with all of this information like what brands there are, and where to get it, and the drawings are out of this world! Its like 2 or 3 pages per piece! Lord knows, I may never own every piece but it is so much fun to read! Absolute Heaven! I don't like all of it, but it may depend on where you live. This book is one of my very favorites, right up there with Essentially Lilly!

5.) My new Religion Class!
The professor is by far one of the nicest professors that I have ever met, and today was the first day. She absolutely made it a point to learn all of our names, as well as other facts we wanted to share. She is just very personable and the class is called Biblical Lit. It is a gen-ed requirement, but I think it will be wonderful! I am so excited. I am Presbyterian, and there are a lot of different religions in the class so it should be really interesting. The girls in the class are all Freshman and some Seniors because like me, the Seniors waited really late to take it.

Have a great Monday!!
