Quotes, Quotes, and More Quotes!

Hey girls!

Whew! Today is such a busy day, as every day this semester is turning out to be.

I am so excited because this morning, I spoke with the Realtor I was telling you all about in my previous post about a JOB!

To fill y'all in, I decided last week after finding out that with my major and gen-ed credits I still need a few hours to have enough to graduate, that I was going to minor in something! I was just trying to get through my major, but whatever works! I didn't want to minor in just anything, so I thought it through...well really I just skimmed the catalog and looked for the most appealing name and I decided on...International Business!!

I am ecstatic about it. It will be tough, but school usually is, and I think the two go quite well together.

Anyways, so the Realtor called me this morning because I have decided that it is time to really get serious and build my resume. He was so nice, and told me to send him my resume and he was going to pass it along to various people in his company. Apparently they handle real-estate, but also there are about 10 agencies for marketing and business that he works for too! I would be networking (my favorite thing to do), doing internet work, and hopefully shadowing as much as I could...all while wearing a suit every day! Summer...get here soon! I want to be on par with a lot of the grads that will be coming out in 2010 so that I am easily able to get a job.

I feel especially good about it because I know him fairly well, and he is an absolute pleasure to be around so I am sure his colleagues are the same.

Today though, I have class from 1-5 and then I am babysitting from 6-11. These days keep getting longer and longer, but I know it is all going to pay off.

In other news, I was tagged in an e-mail this morning by a good friend of mine to list my 10 favorite quotes. Id rather post them here!

1. "The best blush to use is laughter: It put roses in your cheeks and in your soul."

- This is one of my very favorite quotes, it is so true! Laughter is not only the best medicine, but apparently the best make-up too! I am not sure exactly where I found this, but I do love it! I laugh all the time, and most of the time I laugh at the wrong time at the wrong things like people falling, ect! I find most everything funny for some reason!

2. "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you."
-Princess Diana

-I think this is such an inspirational quote because, clearly...it's true. Life is so short, and it is all about helping others, and doing Gods will. I used to be better at this than I am now. Sometimes I get so absorbed in my own life, but it always feels so good to do for others. In fact, my mother told me a story the other day about how her and my sister were lost after leaving the airport. All of the sudden a sweet Christian lady, who you could tell was just a genuine person, drove up to them and offered to let them follow her to the highway to get on the right track. She wasn't even going to the highway, but offered to take them there. It was 20 minutes out of her way, and she didn't expect a thing in return. That to me is the prime example of a great person, giving just simply to make another persons day a little better!

3. "Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier."
Mother Teresa

4. "Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing."
-Mother Teresa

-I love this quote because I know that it is so nice to even just be walking on campus...or downtown NYC (you know, if its not a creeper smiling your way) and be greeted with a smile rather then a blank stare. It just proves to be comforting and can make your day, as well as the other persons!

5. "I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much."
Mother Teresa

-I think everyone can relate to this quote. I wont get into it, but it relates to me so much!

6. "If you judge people, you have no time to love them."
Mother Teresa

-Y'all, I notice that when I am in a judgmental mood, I feel as though everyone is judging me too, but when I take time to really get to know someone and not judge them on the spot, I notice that I feel much better.

7. "Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can."

-Enough said, this quote is another one of my favorites! At times it seems easier said then done...but once you start doing good from your heart, and not just for others it seems natural!

8. "Not in my Pew!"

-My mother said this to me 2 Easter Sundays ago after she caught me coming in to church wearing my strapless black monogrammed dress! Now y'all, it may have been in the mid 60's that day, but hello, its Easter! Needless to say, I had to go put on a sweater. Ugh, so embarrassing! Sadly, that little number hasn't been back to the First Presbyterian Church since!

9. "If you haven't any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble!"
-Lilly Pulitzer

-This is such a great quote because, number one its by Lilly! Number 2, it's true! I haven't had the chance to be a part of many charities yet because I want to wait until i'm older and can really devote myself to them, but after doing mission trips and stuff it does make me realize that charity work is really crucial, not just for those I am helping, but for me too! I would love to work with UNICEF one day!

10. "Always look your best, but more importantly hang your arm around someone who looks his best too."
-Southern Proper

-Love this quote! So true! I always feel better about myself when I am lookin' my best, and with friends that look their best too. Obviously, I think all of my friends are pretty no matter what they look like, but a suit or a LBD makes all the difference! This, in my opinion, deals not only with what we have on, but attitude wise too! Looking my best gives me a sort of confidence. I can handle anything life throws my way if I am in the Lilly dress of choice at the time of crisis!

Here are a few more favorites...just because!

"Wear Pink and make the boys wink!"
-Lilly Pulitzer

"You can learn more about people from playing a round of golf with them than you can working next to them for a year."
-Lilly Pulitzer

"I never repeat gossip, so listen carefully."
-Lilly Pulitzer

"I have been through a lot and have suffered a great deal. But I have had lots of happy moments, as well. Every moment one lives is different from the other. The good, the bad, hardship, the joy, the tragedy, love, and happiness are all interwoven into one single, indescribable whole that is called life. You cannot separate the good from the bad. And perhaps there is no need to do so, either."
-Jackie Kennedy Onassis

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!"
-Philippians 4:13

" Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your path."
Proverbs 3:5-6

"Fear is USELESS"
-Paul Mendez, rest in peace 0:-)

"Growing up Southern is a privilege, really. It's more than where you're born - it's an idea, a state of mind that seems imparted at birth. It's more than loving fried chicken, sweet tea, high school football, beer, and acoustic guitars. It's being hospitable, being devoted to front porches, moon pies, sun drop, and each other. We don't become Southern - we're born that way."

"There are two types of girls.. the simple girl, and the Katie-girl. I'll be a Katie girl."

-Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City

"That was such a pretentious moment!"

-Bethany, Real Housewives of New York

"Once again...Peg here!"
-Peg

Have a great Tuesday!
