Never A Dull Moment!

Hey girls!

Oh my gosh, you will not believe my morning! It was out of control!

So I went in to work at the park around 9. We always meet at the actual parks and rec office before we actually go to the playground. Well, the guy I work with went to drop his brothers off at church camp before he got there, but when he did, as always we just talked to the staff for an hour before going to the playground.
That is probably my most favorite hour of the day! We talk about everything, and I just laugh the whole hour because people tell the most hilarious stories!
Usually, J and I will talk about what happened at the playground the day before, and we heard that some kid swallowed a dime the other day at the camp at the park...sucks for him!

Anyways so today we got to the park and we saw all of these papers and glass everywhere. There were 3 checks. One was for $600.00, another for $450.00, and another for $40.00!!!! Then next to the checks was a passport and a really ugly purse!
I feel bad for the woman getting her passport stolen and all, but they did her a huge favor taking that purse away!

Anyways, so we also found like her rewards cards for casinos, a passport and a brochure to Las Vegas! Also, there was eye shadow, nail clippers, thank you notes, grocery lists, ect! So, I figured that some woman had gotten mugged, and in that neighborhood, I was not surprised! Her name was all over everything that had fallen out of the purse, We just ended up calling our boss, and she said she would call the cops.

Then I walked out to the playground because I saw a plastic bag, and it had little white folded pieces of paper in it! I thought, OH wow! Someone dropped like...I don't know...sugar?
I picked it up and opened it. I was touching it when, Officer Joe told me to "put it down, its not a toy!"
Oops, it ended up being some powder form of heroin!
I don't know why anybody would leave that out on the playground where my kids play!? The cop said it was worth at least $1000.00. I bet somebody is having a really bad day!

It ended up that some guy busted this woman's window in her car while she was in a meeting, and he stole her purse! Asshole!
My boss, P came out to check out the scene, because it was a sight to see! He is also an ex cop, and hes not afraid to let you know that! He is hilarious, usually he just jokes around but he pulled up to the sketchiest park in Salisbury and his beach music was blasting out of the car and all of the neighbors were like "what the hell?, who that?, shut up whitey!"
J and I laughed at him too...pretending not to know him! Some of us aren't trying to get shot at 10am!
Paul got out and approached the purse, he pulled out his phone, and kept looking at everything but not touching it! Josiah and I had touched most all of it, not even thinking about fingerprints! He was so serious about it!

Josiah and I are gonna ride by the park at like midnight just to see what happens, I hope we see something good! Im excited!

Have a great Monday!

4th

Hey girls!

I hope y'all had a good 4th!

Every year my whole family and a bunch of friends go to our lake houses for a big party! We go to 3 different places for fireworks by boat and it is so much fun!! C came down around 8, met everyone, and did fireworks with the family! Also there were a few people my age that were so much fun, and we all just snuck mixed drinks out of the liquor cabinet all night, it was the 4th of July thats as good of an excuse as any!

My aunt had a beach music DJ come and play by the pool but after about 30 minutes it started to POUR down rain!! The poor caterer did such a great job setting up all of the food outside but we got it all moved in before it got too wet. She did the coolest thing, she took a watermelon and made it into a basket with Sangria in it! It was really pretty! When we got inside, we had like 40 people in the den...HAHA then the DJ turned into an Elvis Impersonator...it was HILARIOUS! He was so weird!
Once we got settled inside, he serenaded every woman there...he sung me the song "Are you lonely tonight?" and then he was like "based on your look sweetheart probably not", my jaw dropped and then I couldn't stop laughing! C was like woah buddy, move on! He drove up in one of those vans that literally either a pedophile, or a criminal drives, it had graffiti all over it!
I'm surprised it didnt say "free candy" or something, it was ugly!
I was dying when he drove up because he almost hit a tree, and then when he got out his mirror fell off the car, real pretty!
It was so funny!

Then he sung to my Nana and said "Honey I heard it was your birthday, (it wasn't her birthday!) For a second I thought Elvis was gonna turn stripper on us!
So sketch!!

He apparently does this at a lot of parties and he gave us all a copy of his latest album. Ill be sure to put it on repeat as soon as possible...

It kept pouring all night long, but we still managed to get on the pontoon and go see fireworks! It was so pretty on the water, I just love taking boat rides at night.

I love holidays with the whole family!

After all of the Holiday festivities, I went to Raleigh to paint my room in the house! I ended up ordering a huge monogram wall mount for my headboard, and I have white furniture and the Lilly Pulitzer "Via Minzer" bedding.
My colors are pink, green, and white. I went and bought tons of white picture frames and I am going to hang at least 20 pictures all over the wall and then hang a shelf for all of my etiquette books! I am so excited to move in! Our landlords (and also my assistant tennis coach at MC) gutted the house and re-did everything! They did the best job, it all looks so much better!

ALSO!! The other day I started my first demo tape with WBTV! My reporter friend, the one that I have known forever filmed me talking about the murder of my neighbor downtown!

I will post a picture of the house, and Elvis.

Have a great Sunday girls!

OH MY GOODNESS!

Hey girls!!

I am so sorry I haven't posted in a while! Wait until you hear why!!

First of all, I have gotten the sweetest e-mails from some of y'all and let me just tell you that I go to the doctor Thursday and will finally figure out what in the world is wrong with me, or if its nothing. I am really looking forward to getting that over with!!

Second of all, I have been working with WBTV this summer as y'all know and it has been filled with a lot of exciting, and interesting stories! Some are really bad, but I LOVE covering & watching them!!

Well one story this week was so scary...and real close to home!
I woke up last Thursday to head out to the park around 8 am and there were 3 cop cars turning down the road in front of my house! My jaw dropped, because cops don't generally come into the neighborhood! Everyone is really close in the neighborhood so I thought they had finally caught the drug addict teenager that lives up the street, hell I was wrong! Hes still shootin' up, but guess what they DID find!

A doctor that lived up the street was MURDERED!!! AHH!!
My sister came home from bible school and she was like "Katie guess what happened on our street?!" I assumed that some kids bike was stolen, or something stupid like that, but no it was so bad!

I thought at first it was just a random murder, but it was intentional! To be honest he has always been really strange to me....just a weird little man! But still, I don't think anybody ever deserves to be murdered!

Yesterday I was walking with my mother and Sarah, and I saw the WBTV live truck! I wasnt scheduled to work, but I really wanted to so my walk turned into a sprint and I went to the truck! Luckily, my favorite camera man was there, and then this reporter that I never met. She asked me if I could get any neighbors to talk about it, but no I just couldnt do that! I did eventually get to start on my demo tape, I am going to use this story because nothing has happened like this in 30 years in Salisbury! I wish I could have used a different story just because I feel like such a bitch working with the news, and then being friends with the neighbors and family...but the camera man says thats just what happens in news, so ill just do my job!

I am just gonna tell you that WBTV tells the story much better then I can, so I am going to paste what is on their website...its such a crazy story! I will put videos up too (the blonde interviewing is me!) I really do feel awful for that poor family though, and all I can do is pray for them.

People in the neighborhood already think that this is going to be a lifetime movie!

Playgrounds and Wine

Hey girls!!

Let me just tell you about my day, it was too funny!!

This morning, I woke up for work, so anxious to get to the Park so I could assume position as a GREAT playground counselor! When J and I got to the park, there were 2 kids (they were like 7 and 10) waiting on their bikes as we pulled up!
I was so excited! Our first two kids of the summer! I was so ready to play with them!
They were just the cutest kids, and clearly based on their attitudes toward playground counselors, they really needed some attention and some fun.

They came up to us, and the first thing out of their mouths was,
"My momma told me about this camp, what the hell we gonna do all day long?" (Real pretty)

I said, (after I adapted to the fact that a 7 year old just cussed at me!)
"whatever you want little guy!"

He said,
"Bitch, im all man!"

I really, said nothing after that...speechless!

It became apparent that these kids had attitudes, and at first it was hard to get them to be sweet but after an hour or so they warmed up, and were actually really good kids! They were hilarious!
It breaks my heart though, because I can see how angry some of them are because of the way their lives are going, and it is just plain sad! They really just need someone to tell them that they are worth something. Thats why I took the job in the first place though, so I had a mission!
Seriously, most of these moms are so mean, at least when I have seen them, it sucks! Luckily, they are going to all come back tomorrow, and my friend and I are going to have a "cookout" for lunch for everyone with hamburgers and hotdogs!!

PLEASE look at one boy said...

I said,
"boys wouldn't y'all love to play a board game one day?"
The little boy said
"Bitch, I only play connect 4, and I only play for money!"
I said,
"Of course, I have tons of change in my car!"
He said,
"I don't take penny's and you betta bring at least $10 in quarters, dolla bills preferred! No exceptions!"
We eventually agreed on Snickers bars instead of money...a safer bet!

ALSO, my fellow playground counselor friend and I were looking around the playground, scoping it out to see what we needed to do!
I dont spend a lot of quality time in the ghetto, so really I was entertained! As I walked around, I saw a lot of broken glass, beer bottles, needles which I can only assume are used for shootin up, OH, and the worst... CHEWED GUM on my sandal!
Also, gangs are big, thats why I begged to go to St. Marys, but im glad I went to Public School because when I saw "Crips" carved into the sliding board, I knew exactly what it meant...AHH! I was a little worried, because I am just not quite used to that environment, but all in all, I really want to be there for the kids and so if adapting to it is what I have to do, then I will! Really, I cant believe kids have to play in that environment! The park we're at is very much hidden near railroad tracks, and so its just scary. I am glad I have a guy/good friend of mine working with me!
After that cultural experience, I went to see C at his lake house and met his family for the first time! I was excited, I met like aunts, uncles, parents, and siblings. They are all so much fun! We got to the lake and all of us took a pontoon boat ride around. After that, I helped C cook steaks, and walked around the dock. SO much fun!!
Later, we had a glass of wine and sat by the lake.
I really like him, hes great! Tomorrow night a bunch of my friends from Raleigh, and I are going to a huge beach music festival, I am really excited!
Its Chairman of the Board tomorrow!!

Sick, or something?

Hey girls!

I hope y'all all had a great weekend!

Here is my problem!

For over 2 weeks I have felt so awful! When I was a kid, I always went to the doctor for everything...but now I don't really complain about being sick as much. This time I have felt awful for over 2 weeks and I have no clue what to do.
I am assuming it is low blood sugar, but only because I WebMD'd my symptoms!
LOVE WebMD!
Anyways, so I finally broke down and told my parents how sick I feel, and I am supposedly getting blood work done next week. Yes, I am a proud patient at the Peditricians office! So, really to have blood taken, i've only had my finger pricked...NEVER my veins! HAHA, I feel like Ross Gellar from friends, atleast im 21 not 32! Ill switch by then ;)

It all started 2 weeks ago when I woke up and had a MASSIVE bruise on my knee! I didn't hit it on anything, but I just thought maybe I had a fun night and ran into something!
It never went away and then I got 3 more bruises on my legs and back...so weird! Im also rdizzy, tired, & have headaches from hell! I have more cold chills then I have ever had, my nose bleeds unexpectidly, my glands are swollen one day and not the next, I run out of breath so easily, and I am just sharing wayy to much anyways it is getting out of hand, so when I went to get my finger pricked to see if everything was normal, this doctor told me that everything looked normal accept my white blood cell count was normal/low, but low for a girl of my age and size.
So anyways I have no idea, maybe I have some kind of virus.

So sorry for the vent session, I am sitting at the news station and I got my third aggressive cold chill (look like im having a seizure!) in like 30 seconds so I decided to post so I wouldnt scream haha...have any of y'all ever had symptoms like this?

On a lighter note...let me just tell you about my exciting day!
So this morning I started my Playground Counselor job with Parks and Rec! It is so much fun!
I had to go downtown and sign papers to prove im a legal citizen...seriously! I have blonde hair and blue eyes I mean I guess I could have been from Denmark or something, so I accidently forgot my 2 forms of id the sweet lady that was helping me just let me go and said to fax them later! On my way out, I was in the elevator with this guy, and he asked what im doing for the summer. I told him about my news internship, and HE OFFERS ME A JOB!! I know it sounds sketch, but hes a friend of a friend actually, so it worked great!
He wants me to help film footage for a local channel in my hometown...so excited!
It will keep me busy but it will give me more to put on my resume!!
Anyways, so when I got to the park, a good friend of mine and I were just talking (I hadnt seen him in 2 years and we get to work together all summer!) and then before we knew it it was 11:00 and there was not one kid at camp!
Okay seriously, its a play ground...in a sketchy place, with free lunch WHERE ARE THE KIDS!? Lord, and the people driving the free lunch van were so dissapointed! The park we work at isnt exactly top notch, but I am really looking foward to having some great kids come out!
If no kids come then we get to work at the summer camp at the park and take these adorable kids on fieldtrips and stuff so I am really excited! Its a win win!
Today the only action we got at the park were 3 *rabid* bulldogs on the loose...SKETCH!
I just kept reading my People Magazine and my friend read the paper...who knows what the rest of the week holds?!

After the park, I went home and got ready for my internship! I wore a Lilly dress, pearl necklace, gold bracelet, and thin strapped rainbows ( I know...not the most work savvy shoes, but so comfortable!) to the station today! I was so excited, I absolutely love that part of the job!

Have a great Monday!
